Captain David DeCastro

Captain David DeCastro was born and raised in Marshfield, Massachusetts and has fished the waters of Massachusetts Bay and Cape Cod Bay since he was a small boy.
Captain DeCastro began his sport fishing charter business in 1984, owning and operating the "Julie-Anne II", a 26-foot Fortier, out of Green Harbor, Mass. In 1988 he launched his custom built 36-foot Jarvis Newman, "Diane Lee" to better accommodate his growing clientele. For most of the 1990's Captain DeCastro operated various charter boats for other owners in the South Shore area in addition to his own 23-foot Sea Craft. In 2001 he purchased his current charter boat, the "Sharon B", a 32-foot diesel powered Brownell, which he is presently fishing.
Captain DeCastro and anglers fishing from his boats have been successful catching striped bass, bluefish, bluefin tuna, cod, pollock, haddock and nearly every other species of game fish that inhabit New England waters. He and his clients have won two Massachusetts Governor's Cup awards and several local fishing contests, including second place in the prestigious Martha's Vineyard Striped Bass Derby in 1999 and in 2003.

Captain DeCastro is a published author of articles about salt-water fishing, marine safety and other related topics. His work has appeared in "On The Water" magazine, "Offshore" magazine and "The Fisherman", New England edition.
Captain DeCastro attended the Massachusetts Maritime Academy and graduated in 1978. Since that time, (when he isn't fishing), he has sailed as a merchant marine officer to all parts of the world on freighters, tankers and container ships. In 1991 he earned his unlimited tonnage master's license for ocean going vessels and he has sailed as master on ships of up to 813 feet in length and 28,000 gross tons.
Along with his obvious passion for fishing and the ocean Captain DeCastro is an enthusiastic teacher. Whether you are a novice fisherman or a seasoned pro Captain DeCastro is eager to share his knowledge with you to help ensure that you have a successful and enjoyable fishing experience aboard the "Sharon B".
